Most cut flowers are sold through the flower market (Bloemenmarkt) at Aaalsmeer in Holland and consignments are shipped throughout Europe to florists and commercial resellers. There are 10 or so florists around and about you in Horley, Redhill %26amp; Reigate so you could visit each one and ask them whether they would be willing to add an additional box to their order each week and you pay them cost plus a reasonable handling charge. This would ensure that your business doesn't go to a competitor and they get additional volume with the supplier (reducing their prices). You'll have to 'sell' the idea to them as I think the quantity you need is too small for a unique delivery to you. If you don't ask - you don't get! Good luck :-)

Reply:I would suggest you start with Tesco, but seriously consider adding a small greenhouse on your property if you can. Your climate is mild enough to order flowering plants and raise them year-round so you can get your 80 stems and 20 foliage cheaper. Or you can look up local nurseries and see who is raising stock for florists - if there is nothing local, than see what the delivery trucks say that pull up to the local florist and buy your stock directly from their supplier - why not? You will need to snoop around a little to find this out, but if they can deliver to that florist, they can come down the street and deliver to you as well. ;)

Would like to send flowers to a friend in a hospital in another state. Is it more expensive to call my local florist or should I find a florist in another state, or should I go on-line? Thanks!

Go on-line and find a florist near the hospital where your friend is and call them directly. Any time you involve a middleman it is going to cost you extra. Using FTD is really a waste of money nowadays.

Where do I find limestone for my plants?
Hey! So, i'm growing nasturtium as a project for one of my class, and I was wondering if there was any local places near San Francisco where I can buy it. It's fine if the location is about an hour or two driving time. It would also be great to tell me where to buy nasturtium.
And...please don't just say "A local florist." because that doesn't help. There are a lot of florists, and not all of them have nasturtium or limestone.

Are you sure you need it? If this is a container plant for a school project, and you're using potting soil, things should be pretty well balanced. One uses lime to add calcium and/or magnesium to a soil, and to correct an acid pH. Acidity is easy enough to test for with a home meter or pH strips, but low calcium would need a soil test.
There are two kinds of lime available, and what you get depends on your problem. If you have heavy clay soil, it is probably way high in magnesium and needs calcium in balance. In that case, DO NOT use dolomitic lime, because it contains magnesium and will only make matters worse. Use high-calcium lime. Unfortunately, the lime you can get at almost any garden center or home improvement store is dolomitic lime. In your part of the world Peaceful Valley Farm Supply will have the hi-calc. lime; they're on the Net.
If your pH is 6.7 or higher and you still need calcium, don't use lime at all, use gypsum.

Then soak the seeds in warm water overnight. When you plant, plant the filed away place facing up.

Florist :) How Can I get Free Flowers?
Yes I want something for free for my party but only because I was told that I could get them for free. I was watching TLC or some show and they were making over this womens house for a party for cheap, and the host said she got the flowers that were places on around the room for free, and that you have to ask your local florist, does anyone know anything about that? do florist give away certain or unwanted flowers, what do I ask for? and how soon could I get them I dont care what kind just as long as they smell good.

You can indeed get them form your local florist, however, you can sometimes save a good but of money by buying one at a grocery store that has a nice floral department so you may wnat to check there first.

The florist may be able to make a suggestion based on what the girl is wearing (color, her preferences, the guy's budget). BTW, the guy pays for the corsage and presents it to the girl when they get ready to leave her house. In my case, my grandma made mine using silk flowers, much cheaper and it lasted the whole weekend (I went to two proms).
